Drawing their name from the passenger ferries that once crisscrossed Puget Sound, all members live within a short distance of those waters. Instead of passengers, this Mosquito Fleet carries the tradition of bluegrass and old-time string band music into the 21st century while also re-imagining some familiar contemporary songs and adding a few of their own.
The group was conceived at a now-defunct weekly jam session at the Cabin Tavern in Richmond Beach, also literally within a stone’s throw of Puget Sound. A shared love of bluegrass and fiddle tunes gradually morphed into a tight musical entity that is now entertaining audiences and drawing rave reviews.
Group members include Bill Clements (guitar, vocals), Robb Bell (mandolin), Anne Sherwood (banjo, vocals), Ken Ritland (fiddle), Mark Demaray (guitar, vocals) and Chip Erickson (upright bass, vocals). We are also joined by vocalist Lauren Erickson Foster for select performances.
